A service processor(SVC) checks a CPU condition and executes IPL program when the status of the CPU is in check-halt condition. The SVC has (1) a status detector, which checks the status of the CPU whether it is in run status or check-halt status; (2) a main machine, which controls memory read/write signals, data input from keyboard, and display data; (3) a system controller, which decides whether to boat the system or halt the system; (4) a bus controller which controls the CPU and the IOP bus signals. A counter is used for limiting the number of IPLs process.
