PURPOSE:To provide a rugged surface at the surface of a thermal transfer layer, by a method wherein a thermal transfer layer comprising an ink material and solid particles is provided on the surface of a sheet form heat-resistant base, and the ink material is removed by dissolving by a solvent to reduce the thickness of the ink material layer to below the diameter of at least some of the solid particles. CONSTITUTION:For example, 70pts.wt. of a binder material consisting of a mixture of 20pts.wt. of carnauba wax, 40pts.wt. of ester wax and other components is mixed with 30pts.wt. of carbon black, and the resultant mixture is kneaded to prepare an ink material, to which 100pts.wt. of alumina particles is added, followed by keading to produce a thermal transfer layer material. The material thus obtained is applied to the surface of a heat-resistant base in a thin layer to provide the thermal transfer layer. A warmed toluene solvent is sprayed to the surface of the thermal transfer layer, whereby the carnauba wax binder material on the surface side is dissolved, and carbon black is also washed away. The alumina particles are fixed to the surface of the base by the undissolved ink material in the state of projecting from the ink material layer, whereby a rugged surface is formed. |
