PURPOSE:To improve utilization of active substance for positive plate, in an alkaline battery employing a yet-formed positive plate composed mainly of bivalent nickel hydroxide and added with CoO powder, by leaving more than 20hr after injection of electrolyte then performing initial charging. CONSTITUTION:Nickel oxide aqueous solution is dripped into alkali solution to produce nickel hydroxide then washed with water and dried to produce active substance. While cobalt sulfate aqueous solution is dripped into alkali solution to produce cobalt hydroxide then washed with water and vacuum dried under the temperature of about 180 deg.C to produce CoO powder. Then 90wt% of nickel hydroxide powder and 10wt% of CoO powder are crashed and mixed to produce paste which is filled in sintered substrate to produce a yet-formed positive pole. Said positive pole is employed in an alkali cell which is injected with electrolyte then left as it is more than 20hr then initially charged. In such a manner, utilization of active substance of positive plate is improved to produce high performance alkaline batteries with high productionability. |
