The pivot for mounting e.g. a t.v. camera on a tripod comprises a base (A) on which a chassis (B) is pivotable about a horizontal pivot, the chassis comprising two side plates (3) connected in parallel by the pivot (2) passing through the base. Each plate carries inwardly extending rollers (4) adjacent its upper edge which engage over the lower limbs of L-shaped flanges (7) on the underside of a plate-like mount (8) on which the camera is supported. The rollers allow the mount to slide along the chassis in the plane of the plate. The base, chassis and mount are interconnected on both sides by a pair of parallel links (D) pivoted intermediate their ends to the chassis beneath the chassis pivot. The ends of the links carry pins slidably engaging in slots in the base and mount so that pivoting of the chassis slides the mount on the chassis to maintain the camera centre of gravity over the base. The mount pins are screw-threaded to lock the chassis position. |
