Apparatus for moulding shoes or parts thereof includes a mould 30a, (30b) having a cavity 31 closed by a selected one of a plurality of interchangeable closure members which are rotatable in unison for alignment with the cavity. In the example shown, a two-layer sole is injection moulded on to a shoe upper 32 using, in turn, a pair of closure members 33, 34. The closure members are mounted on arms 35 on a rotary shaft 37 projecting from a control box 38 which is movable vertically to open and close the mould cavity. A plurality of moulds (22), Fig. 1 (not shown), may be mounted on a turntable (20), and injection heads (24, 26) inject materials of different colours or compositions. Modifications.-Injection may be effected through a part of the mould other than the closure members. The closure members may be mounted on a carrier in the form of a cone or a flat disc. The mould may be moved away from the closure members instead of vice versa. The apparatus may be used for injection moulding soles and heels as separate integers for subsequent attachment to pre-formed uppers, or for moulding complete articles of footwear with uppers and soles of different materials.
