PURPOSE:To prevent a blooming phenomenon by photographing two pictures different in the direction of scanning by 90 deg. and synthesizing a picture by subtracting the difference of two picture signals from the sum of two picture signals. CONSTITUTION:Out of incident light on a beam splitter 20, rectilinear light is made incident on a CCD22 and incident light bent by 90 deg. is made incident on a CCD24. Though the CCD22, 24 have the same structure, the direction of scanning differs by 90 deg. from each other. Outputs of the CCD22, 24 are signal- processed and written on frame memories 44, 46 respectively. An arithmetic circuit 48 makes arithmetic of (A+B+-¦A-B¦)/2 for output signals A, B of memories 44, 46, and forms one picture signal by synthesizing two picture signals. The output is supplied to a monitoring device 14 and displayed through a D/A converter 50 and a color encoder 52.
