PURPOSE:To start a hard copy device with only a video signal by superposing a start signal on the video signal to transmit them in the host device side and detecting the start signal from the video signal to start the copying operation in the hard copy device side. CONSTITUTION:The video signal is transmitted from a shift register 4 of a host device 100 by the shift clock from a timing controller 3. Horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals are generated simultaneously by the controller 3, and they are inputted to a start signal superposing circuit 5, and the start signal is superposed. In a hard copy device 200, the video signal is inputted to a CRT7 and a hard copy control circuit 8 as it is, and superposed synchronizing signals are separated into synchronizing signals and the start signal by a start signal separating circuit 6. Synchronizing signals are inputted to the CRT7 and the circuit 8, and the start signal is inputted to the circuit 8. As the result, picture information is displayed as a soft copy on the CRT7, and the circuit 8 starts the hard copy operation and drives a printing means 9. The means 9 prints and records picture information on a recording paper 10.
