PURPOSE:To cerainly control the charging of large and small diameter ink particles by a recording signal, by automatically setting the exciting voltage of a nozzle to a voltage value such that the generation phase difference between large and small diameter ink particles approaches a specific value. CONSTITUTION:Detected voltage is taken in a control calculation apparatus 5 by an A/D converter 14. Detected voltage for allowing the phases, wherein large and small diameter particles 2, 3 are separated and generated from an ink column 4, to coincide with the phase of a test signal is compared with the phase of the test signal and the generated phase is detected to calculate phase difference which is, in turn, stored along with an exciting voltage value in corresponding relation. This operation is repeated while this exciting voltage value parameter is changed. Voltage, wherein phase difference is mostly near to pi, is set as exciting voltage and a recording signal phase shift circuit 11 is again driven and a generated phase is calculated before the signal phase of a recording charge signal forming circuit 15 is set. The optimization of a recording condition is automatically performed when a recording apparatus performs no recording. Because the generated phase is always sufficiently separated, large and small diameter particles can be controlled independently and certainly. |
