PRODUCTION OF FINE METALLIC WIRE

PURPOSE:To obtain a fine metallic wire having high quality by ejecting a molten metal from a spinning nozzle to a cooling liquid layer formed on a grooved conveyor belt which curves and travels at the curve of the gradually decreasing radii of curvature thereby solidifying quickly the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The grooved conveyor belt 1 is run in a direction 9 by a driving pulley 3 and the cooling liquid is continuously passed into a groove 2 from a cooling liquid supply nozzle 6 in the position of a turn pulley 5. The cooling liquid layer 10 formed on the groove 2 is run together with the belt 1 during this time and is transferred from linear running to curved running. The radius of curvature in the curved running part is gradually decreased in this case and therefore the centrifugal force increases gradually. As a result, the layer 10 travels curvilinearly in the stable state. The molten metal 11 is ejected from a spinning nozzle 8 to the layer 10 and the molten metal layer formed in such a manner is admitted into the layer 10. The molten metal flow is pressed by the centrifugal force to the base of the groove 2 while the molten metal is quickly cooled to solidify by which the fine metallic wire 12 is formed. The wire 12 is discharged from the belt 1 by inertial force in the position of the pulley 5 together with the quick cooling liquid.
