PURPOSE:A pearly luster agent capable of providing beautiful pearly luster and containing an active component of pearly luster in a high concentration, comprising a fatty acid monoethanol amide having a specific number of carbons and a polyhydric alcohol in a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:A pearly luster agent comprising (A) 12-22C acyl group- containing fatty acid monoethanol amide (e.g., myristic acid monoethanol amide), and (B) a polyhydric alcohol (e.g., propylene glycol, or polyethylene glycol) in a weight ratio of the component A/B of 50-10/1 (preferably 30-15/1). Blending of the component A and the component B in the ratio suppresses growth of crystal in the thickness direction in the stage of crystallization of the component A, and provides thinner crystal having improved pearly luster. The pearly luster can be dispersed into water in any ratio and can be made into a liquid and highly concentrated dispersion having 10-50wt% total amounts of the components A and B is preferable. |
