PURPOSE:To rapidly purify waste water, by packing a receiving part formed of a perforated material with a porous ceramic particulate material based on clay and obtained baking clay to which a void forming material has been added. CONSTITUTION:Waste water introduced into the storage part 3 in an aeration tank A is brought to a flow state accompanying a horizontal stream, a vertical stream and a turbulent stream by barrier plates 4 and diffused by air diffusers 5 to increase dissolved oxygen and purification action is performed by activated sludge fixed to the ceramic particulate material 2 allowed to pack a treatment part 1. The ceramic particulate material 2 is based on clay and has a porous structure formed by baking clay to which a void forming material such as sawdust or hull has been added.
