<p>This specification discloses a method for the production of combustible gas and a device for the application of the method. A gasifiable material is fed by means of a screw device in to a drum equipped with lip screens and mounted in a twin-shell casing, the material in the drum being displaced longitudinally to a gas discharge part, where incombustible material is discharged through a hatch onto a screw device and is then discharged through a sluice device. At the same time the incoming air is guided by means of the lip screens into the bottom of the drum in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the drum, in order to keep the material floating along the bottom, whereas the intermediate space of the casing is caused to cool the inner shell and to heat the primary air admitted under the drum and drawn through or forced into the drum. Thus an air chamber is fitted to ensure the correct velocity of the intake air, whereas the material fed into the drum is in compact form and the flue gases are caused to flow through a vibrating filter assembly typically containing limestone and are then discharged through an opening. The gasifiable material may consist of refuse, peat or similar material.</p> |
