PURPOSE:To decelerate sheet velocity to the desired one with certainty even if it is fed at high speed, by pressing the sheet being fed with pinch rolls, while controlling a span of decelerating time by these pinch rolls. CONSTITUTION:At that point that a tip end of a sheet 20 on a feed line reaches both upper and lower pinch rolls 1 and 2, a chock 25 is situated in a bottom dead center position, and these pinch rolls 1 and 2 are opened in their gap wide. And, the pinch roll 2 rotates at peripheral velocity of the same V1 as a feed rate of the sheet 20. When a tail end of the sheet 20 is detected by a detector 2, the chock 25 moves from the bottom dead center to a top dead center by a motor, and the lower pinch roll 2 goes up to a position of 2', pinching the tail end of the sheet 20. And, with control of another motor, after pinching the sheet for the specified time long at peripheral velocity V2, this sheet is discharged to a piler at this velocity. Thus, the duration of speed reduction is controllable with motor control so that proper pinch time is secured and it is decelerated to the desired velocity.
