PURPOSE:To simplify the pretreatment stage before cold rolling, by previously pickling the high silicon hot-rolled plate and by subjecting the plate to normalizing heat treatment in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The hot-rolled plate of high silicon steel contg. >=2.0wt% Si is subjected to pickling prior to normalizing heat treatment. Succeedingly, the hot-rolled plate is introduced into a furnace with the nonoxidizing atmosphere in which Ar gas etc., is used as protective gas, and is subjected to normalizing heat treatment at the prescribed temp. By this treatment before cold rolling, a degasification stage can be omitted and the rate of operation of the line can be improved; energy-saving effect can also be attained.
