PURPOSE:To provide a new adhesive consisting of an alkali-neutralized isobutylene/maleic anhydride/styrene terpolymer and exhibiting prominent adhesive properties. CONSTITUTION:The adhesive is made of an alkali-neutralized isobutylene/maleic anhydride/styrene terpolymer. Charge stock ratios of the three components are determined according to physical properties required of the copolymer. Usually, maleic anhydride and styrene are used in 0.5-1.5, pref. 0.7-1.2mol and 0.01-1.5, pref. 0.05-1.2mol, respectively, per mol of isobutylene.
