PURPOSE:To make a cutting position so as to be slipped at all as well as to improve a degree of sheet joining accuracy ever so better, by clamping both sheets in front and in the rear with a clamping device in advance and then cutting the sheet. CONSTITUTION:When a ear end of a preceding sheet 2A goes forward up to one the top of a cover member 11, this member 11 is made to go down, and a front end of a sheet 2B of new sheet roll 3 is fed onto this member 11 with a feed roller 5. Next, the cover member 11 closes upward, whereby the succeeding sheet 2B is superposed on the rear end of the preceding sheet 2A. At this time, both before and behind sheets 2A and 2B are forcibly pressed onto a sheet splicer table 1 by clamp cylinders 6 and 7 and clamped there. Under this condition, a rear end part of the preceding sheet 2A is cut after being adjusted to a front end face of the succeeding sheet 2B. And, both these before and behind sheets 2A and 2B are connected together with an adhesive tape 14. When sheet connection is over, it is fed by a feed roller 4, while the cover member 11 turns round downward and thereby a sheet cut piece 2' on the cover member 11 slips down. Therefore, sheet splicing accuracy is improved.
