STRUCTURE OF OPTICAL FIBER TERMINAL

PURPOSE:To prevent the exfoliation of a glass plate by projecting slightly the top end of a ceramic pipe fixed with an optical fiber terminal from a metallic pipe and adhering non-reflection glass to the end face thereof. CONSTITUTION:The terminal of the optical fiber 10 is inserted and fixed into the ceramic pipe 11 and further the pipe 11 is inserted into a pipe 12 and is fixed in such a manner that the top end of the pipe 11 projects slightly from the pipe 12. The end face of the pipe 11 and the fiber 10 fixed to the pipe is then polished and the glass plate 14 having a non-reflection film 13 is adhered to said face by means of an optical adhesive agent. The glass plate 14 having the film 13 is adhered only to the pipe 11 and the fiber 10 in the above- mentioned manner and therefore the adhesion of the glass and ceramics having the approximately equal coefft. of thermal expansion is attained. The stress to be generated by a temp. change is decreased and the exfoliation of the glass plate is prevented.
