PURPOSE:To prevent an image absence when the distance between drum shafts is decreased and to reduce the size of a polychromatic recording device by compensating a phase shift originating from restrictions of the mechanism of the recording device which uses plural image recording units. CONSTITUTION:The recording device is constituted by connecting the 1st-the 4th image recording units 21-24 in series; the length of a transfer sheet (in conveyance direction) is denoted as Lmm, the radius of drums 21a-24a of the respective units 21-24 as Rmm, the conveyance speed of the sheet as Vmm/ sec, and the distance between drum shafts as D. When the precedent end of the sheet reaches a position which is piRmm before a transfer and fixation position from the right-hand side, the image formation of the drum 21a is started and the precedent edge of the sheet is aligned to the front end of an image on the drum 21. Then, the sheet is conveyed to the 2nd drum 22a while the image is transferred and fixed on the drum 1. Similarly, when the precedent end of the sheet reaches positions which are pimm before transfer and fixation positions, respective drums 22a-24a start image forming operation, thereby preventing an image absence. |
