System for connecting transmission lines comprising an AC/DC converter connected to a first transmission line and a self-exciting inverter connected to a second transmission line. The DC connections of the AC/DC converter and the self-exciting inverter are connected and the output connection of the self-exciting inverter is varied by controlling the AC to supply a relative output to the second transmission line in the normal condition and to supply an active output from the first transmission line through the AC/DC converter and the self-exciting inverter to the second transmission line in an emergency condition, such as when there is generator breakdown. |
