PURPOSE:To produce a low-cost fluorescent display tube by reducing the number of its parts by omitting the use of grids. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes 22 are located on a glass base plate 21. The shape of the electrodes 22 is a honeycomb-like form 22a, a striped form 22b or a network-like form 22c. A phosphor 23 is applied to the transparent electrodes 22 and for insulation and optical shielding an insulator 20 is applied between the electrodes 22. A supporting frame 28 is installed above the phosphor 23 at a given distance from it and a filament member 25 is attached to the supporting frame 28. Then, a cover glass 26 is placed above the supporting frame 28 and the filament member 25 at a given distance from them, thereby forming a vacuum case. A transparent conductor 27 is installed on the inner surface of the cover glass 26. By thus omitting the use of grids, the number of the parts of a fluorescent display tube is reduced and therefore its cost can be reduced. |
