PURPOSE:To align gaps by joining two magnetic materials via a thin film layer consisting of a nonmagnetic material between them to form a gap. CONSTITUTION:One face of each of blocks 10 and 11 consisting of magnetic materials is polished into a specular surface, and notches 12 and 12' are formed in one end part of these specular surfaces. A glass or the like is formed with a prescribed thickness on one of these specular surfaces, and both specular surfaces are joined by the hot press-welding method or the like to form a gap bar having a gap 13. A groove 15 is formed on the surface crossing the gap 13, and the gap bar is cut on both sides of the groove 15 along dotted lines 16 and 17 to obtain two magnetic head blocks 18 and 19. Gaps 25 and 29 of magnetic head blocks 18 and 19 are arranged on a line completely, and they have the same gap length because they are a part of one gap bar and are cut out from parts very close to each other. |
