PURPOSE:To attain to enhance printing quality in a dot impact printer using many kinds of ribbons, by providing a ribbon discrimination means for discriminating the kind of the mounted ribbon and a printing pressure control means for controlling printing pressure corresponding to the discrimination result of said ribbon discrimination means. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon kind detection part E is a ribbon discrimination means and detects the kind of the ribbon of the ribbon cassette mounted to a printing mechanism part F and sends out the detected result to a head suction width converter G being a printing pressure control means. A printing head control part B performs the driving control of each wire of the printing head of the printing mechanism part F corresponding to the printing data from a printer control part A and the conversion result from the head suction width conversion part G to perform printing. Because impact (printing pressure) is applied to the ribbon corresponding to the kind of the mounted ribbon, printing quality is enhanced. |
