The electric motors (1,2) are arranged coaxially, and counter-directed mechanically so that their shafts (3,4) are connected to one another. Their primary and secondary windings (U,V,W) are coupled in phase with one another, with the result that the rotors are stationary during normal drive. - The rotor windings (a,b) are parallel-coupled and in phase with one another, and a single-phase current taken from the motor windings. Conversely, three-phase current can be taken from them when single-phase current is fed to the rotor windings. Resistance are connected between the main and the windings of the electric motors providing an auxiliary voltage to the motors for induction of a rotating current.
