PURPOSE:To permit starting of a shutter operation without wasteful lapse of time by changing the time for shifing to the next step from a photometric step by interrupting photometry according to the sensitivity of a film used. CONSTITUTION:This control device for a camera has a photometric circuit in which the current from a photodetector executes charing of discharging of a capacitor and which measures subject brightness by the time when the voltage between the terminal of a capacitor attains a prescribed time. The above-mentioned control device is so constituted as to detect the subject luminance by disposing CdS which is the photodetector to face the subject and measuring the charging time TLS when a capacitor C1 is charged to a specified voltage VC after clearing of the capacitor C1. More specifically, a signal is pulsed and outputted to an AEO part when a release button S1 is pushed. The capacitor C1 is then cleared and the charging thereof is started. The signal AEI is inverted by a comparator CP when the voltage of the capacitor C1 attains the specified voltage VC. The time TLS till the inversion is measured.
