PURPOSE:To achieve a higher temperature measuring accuracy preventing a drift due to changes in the magnetic permeability, by arranging a magnet close to the surface of an object to be measured with a detector of an eddy current thermometer as opposed thereto to saturate the surface thereof magnetically. CONSTITUTION:When the temperature of an object to be measured such as work roll 1 is detected with a detector 5 of an eddy current thermometer as opposed thereto, a magnet (electromagnet) 7 is set near the surface of the object being measured. At the measurement of the temperature, the surface of the object being measured is saturated magnetically. This keeps the apparent magnetic permeability at 1 near the measuring point to remove the effect of changes in the magnetic permeability thereby elevating the temperature measuring accuracy. |
