PURPOSE:To transfer efficiently information by exchanging transmission necessity inquiry information and its response information prior to exchanging picture information and destination information between two units of facsimile equipment and transferring picture information only to facsimile equipment for receiving no information out of two units of facsimile equipment. CONSTITUTION:A controller 6 matches an original name, destination information and picture information so as to store them in a memory device 4, then controls a transmitter/receiver 3 and transmits transmission necessity inquiry information including the original name to one destination out of plural stored destinations. When response information is required to be transmitted, the controller 6 deletes the destination to which the response is returned, stores again destination information in the memory device 4, and simultaneously transmits re-stored destination information and picture information to the deleted destination. The controller 6 repeats the similar subsequent processing with respect to all destinations stored in the memory device 4.
