In the case of a roofing rim for shielding roofs with an electrical illuminating fitting which comprises holders with cylindrical gas discharge lamps, the illuminating fitting is to have as uniform as possible an illuminating effect, for which reason a light carrier of rectangular cross-section contains a number of gas discharge tubes (5) connected to one another in series, and said tubes are protected only along the part capable of radiation by means of tunnel-shaped caps (6) which are clamped into the bases (4) of each tube, are made from uniformly translucent plastic and are in each case blocked before the contact ends, there being provided in the light carrier behind the gas discharge tubes connected to one another in series a reflecting screen (8) set obliquely at an angle of approximately 45 DEG .
