The boot or shoe made of leather or synthetic material has recesses in the bending areas. The stiff material is replaced by a more flexible foil material which is associated with an inner layer of foam material. The recesses are pref. arranged symmetrical in the side parts of the upper and around the heel area. The flexibility of the shoe can be altered according to the number of recesses.
