The grips (9) are hinged about longitudinal axes near the edge of the load, and are mounted on the roofrack cross members (1). The grips are swung into the loads by hand-lever operated tensile supports. The grips have elastic pads at the end to grip the edges of the load. They are adjustable on the cross members and the tensile hold is also adjustable.
