PURPOSE:To improve the contacting strength of an original to a transparent plate by electrifying the transparent plate, on which the original is placed, before exposure or simultaneously with exposure and bringing closely the original into contact with the transparent plate independently of the weight of an original retaining cover. CONSTITUTION:When the original retaining cover is opened, a detecting switch SW1 which detects opening/closing of the original retaining cover is turned on, and a switch SW2 connected between a power source 55 and a high voltage generator 56 is turned off in accordance with turning-on of the switch SW1. If a switch SW3 is controlled by a CPU 57 to turn on when the switch SW1 is turned off and the switch SW2 is turned on by closing of the original retaining cover, a high voltage is applied to a discharging conductor 44 of a corona discharger 22 from the high voltage generator 56. Therefore, the original is brought closely into contact with the transparent plate by the electrostatic force, and the original is exposed in this state, and thus, a vivid picture is obtained. |
