PURPOSE:To make electromagnetic conversion characteristics or a magnetic characteristics with proper coercive force by providing a nitride coat of alloy magnetic powder on a particle surface of the alloy magnetic powder of a metal chosen among iron, nickel and cobalt. CONSTITUTION:After alloy magnetic powder of at least two kinds of metals chosen among iron, nickel and cobalt is heat-treated in a gas atmosphere containing nitrogen, a particle surface of the alloy magnetic powder is nitrified and a nitride coat of the alloy magnetic powder is formed on the particle surface of the alloy magnetic powder. Therefore, after an oxidation stability is sufficiently improved, too high coercive force is controlled and is reduced to have the most suitable value for a magnetic recording medium to sufficiently improve electromagnetic conversion characteristics or magnetic characteristics of magnetic recording mediums obtained by using the powder. |
