In this lifting tailgate comprising a support chassis, a plate 15 which can be folded on itself about a first horizontal spindle, two link mechanisms each comprising a telescopic lifting arm 11a, 11c whose ends are articulated respectively about a second and third spindle 9 and 16, and a stabilisation jack 12 whose ends are articulated respectively on the support chassis and on a runner 13 mounted pivotably on the third spindle 16, and at least one lifting jack 7, there is provided a first toothed pinion 21 which is coaxial with the spindle 16 and rigidly fixed to the lifting arm 11a, 11c, a second toothed pinion 20 which is rotationally mounted on the plate 15 about a fourth spindle 18 and which is mechanically coupled to the toothed pinion 21, and drive means 24 connected to the toothed pinion 20 so as to cause it to rotate about the spindle 18 and thus force the plate 15 to pivot about the spindle 16. <IMAGE>
