PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent magnetic head which can be available at a moderate cost and will not require special processing of a coil groove by grinding the outer surface of a cylindrical glass material into a square-cylindrical shape and then cutting it in the direction approximately intersecting orthogonally with the longitudinal direction so as to use the spindle hole in the center as the coil hole. CONSTITUTION:The outer surface of the cylindrical glass material 11 having the spindle hole 12 in the center is ground (polished) up to a grinding line 13 shown by a chain line to be a square-cylindrical material 14. The square- cylindrical material 14 after the completion of grinding is cut along a cutting line 15 approximately intersecting orthogonally with the longitudinal direction to be a side core 16. In its center the spindle hole 12 remains, which becomes the coil hole 17. The side cores 16 formed in such a way are stuck to both sides of a magnetic core 18, and the head gap 19 at the side of the magnetic core 18 is ground appropriately. Simultaneously the coil hole 20 of the magnetic core 18 and the coil hole 17 are wound with a coil 21 to form the magnetic head 22. |
