PURPOSE:To average an error of interpolation data and thereby reproduce a signal of high fidelity by adding the error data including its polarity to the average data formed by sub-sampling data. CONSTITUTION:The sampling data undergoes delay circuits 4 and 5, and is supplied to an average data forming circuit 6. Each sub-average data outputted from the circuit 6 is summed up with the output data from the circuit 4 in reversed polarity by an adder 9 to form an error data. The error data is supplied to a circuit 11 where an average over eight pieces of error data is calculated. At the minute, a discriminating circuit 12 discriminates the polarity of each error data. The polarity data, average error data, and the video data blocks above mentioned are dispositioned as a band compressed video signal by a converting circuit 15. In the reproducing system, the data is extended to its original band by an average data forming circuit 21 and an inverting circuit 32.
