A description is given of a longitudinally adjustable suspension means for a counter-ceiling, said means having two load-bearing parts (1, 3) which can be displaced with respect to each other. An angled-off spring metal sheet (2) is fastened on one (1) of the load-bearing parts (1, 3) by legs (8), projecting from the load-bearing part (1), of the spring metal sheet (2) being pushed through parallel transverse slots (4) arranged on the load-bearing part (1). In the legs (8) projecting obliquely from the load-bearing part (1) there are arranged two openings (6) which are located one above the other and into which the other load-bearing part (3) is pushed. In order that the legs (8), as a result of the design elasticity of the spring metal sheet (2) from its central portion which bears on the load-bearing part (1), are braced such that they project at an acute angle, the load-bearing part (3), pushed into the openings (6), is clamped in. If the legs (8) are compressed such that they project at approximately right angles from the central portion of the spring metal sheet (2) or from the load-bearing part (1), the clamping action is released. <IMAGE>
