PURPOSE:To make warming-up time reducible and superprecision machining performable, by forming a spindle and a bearing, constituting a headstock in a machine tool, with a silicone nitride ceramic material. CONSTITUTION:A bed 2 is mounted on an upper part of a frame 1, while a headstock 4 made up of a ceramic material, supporting a spindle 3 made up of the ceramic material likewise, is locked onto this bed 2 by means of a locking device such as a lap joint or the like. And, the spindle 3 is connected so as to be rotated by a spindle driving motor 6 set up at a lower part via a V-belt 5. Among them, at the headstock 4, the spindle 3 supporting a work is supported on one side by a rear bearing 41 while the other side by a front bearing 42, respectively, and formed so as to cause driving force to be transmitted from the V-belt 5 engaged with a pulley P, via a coupling C. |
