A waterproof covering for floor expansion joints, which can withstand heavy loads, comprises two supporting profiles 105 which are secured at the upper edges of the joint 1. The supporting profiles 105 receive sealing bodies 111. The sealing bodies have, on their bearing surfaces, longitudinal flutes which engage with longitudinal flutes 112 formed on the inner sides of the supporting profiles 105. Said sealing bodies are thus fixed, on the one hand, and form a waterproof closure on the other. The sides of the sealing bodies 111 which are directed towards one another have retaining grooves 116 in which the longitudinal edges of an insert strip 114 spanning the joint 1 are situated, for example in a frictionally engaged manner. <IMAGE>
