The invention relates to a chuck in which the chuck jaws are connected to the chuck body via radially deflectable webs, preferably two flat, parallel webs being provided per chuck jaw, which webs act like leaf springs and provide for parallelogram guidance of the allocated chuck jaw. The chuck jaws and webs are preferably formed in one piece with the chuck body by slots being produced in corresponding projections of the same by means of electrical discharge-wire cutting. According to the invention, the chuck jaws are actuated via a wedge-surface arrangement with a double-armed lever per chuck jaw, a short arm of the lever acting on the allocated chuck jaw, while a wedge surface on a distinctly longer arm of the lever interacts with an actuating element, in particular a roller, of an axially movable actuator.
