PURPOSE:To enhance the durability of a V-belt, by setting a reference line pressure determined in accordance with the operating condition of an engine to a low value upon detection of neutral range operation, which low value requires a line pressure. CONSTITUTION:In a stepless speed change unit 4 in which the gear ratio is changed by adjusting the groove gaps of drive and driven pulleys having variable effective diameters, by means of hydraulic actuators, there is provided a line pressure regulating means A for regulating the line pressure fed to the hydraulic actuators. Further, there are provided a line pressure control means B for controlling the regulating means A to set the line pressure to a reference value which is set in accordance with the operating condition of the engine, and a neutral range detecting means D for detecting whether a travel changeover mechanism C for changing over the stepless speed change unit between its neutral range and its travel range is set in its neutral range or its travel range. Further upon detection of the neutral range a line pressure compensating means D compensates the above-mentioned reference value to a low value. |
