Liquid-filled metallic hollow bodies (5), with or without liquid flow, are cathodically protected against internal corrosion with the aid of impressed-current anodes (1). Anode supports (2) are required to mount the anodes (1). The main objective of the invention is to provide anode supports (2) which ensure reliable mounting of the anodes (1) and the faultless operation thereof even when the interior of the hollow body is accessible with difficulty or not at all, which applies, for example, to pipes (5) having a small internal pipe diameter. This object can be achieved if the anode supports (2) are designed to be spherical and if in the case of both moving and stationary liquid (8) the contact points (6) between them and the walls of the hollow bodies (5) are continually changing. The advantages of the invention are, in particular, that - especially in the case of contaminated liquids the functional orifices cannot be blocked which, in the case of conventional tubular sleeves, is certainly the case owing to the reduced mobility, and that - no point of the inner surface of the hollow body remains without sufficient cathodic protective-current load for a length of time, because the contact point between anode support and hollow body is changing continually, and that - the choice of the gap between anode (1) and cathode (5) is simplified.
