In this timer, at least two time intervals can be set, after the expiration of in each case one time interval the other one begins and when the individual time intervals have expired, in each case an optical and/or acoustic signal is triggered. This provides the sports teacher or the sports person himself or herself with a possibility for monitoring the duration of the individual training intervals without having his/her attention being diverted from the training itself. The individual inputs can be displayed. A combination with other functions such as timing and pulse monitoring is provided. <IMAGE>
