METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF CLAD MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To obtain a clad material of good quality having no oxide layers at all by connecting and inserting a solid core material from above into a casting mold while heating said material, pouring at the same time a molten metal for forming a sheath into the remaining space in the mold and drawing double layered solidified ingot from the lower part of the mold. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel 3 is poured from a molten steel receiving ladle 1 into a tundish 2 and at the same time the core material 12 passed through a core material inserter 4 and a core material heater 6 is inserted into the tundish 2. The heater 6 is covered with a sealing device 5 and seals at the same time the heated material 12 from the atm. air. The material 3 coated with the molten steel 3 on the outside circumference is fed through a passage 8 for the molten steel into the mold 9 disposed in the bottom of the tundish 2 and is drawn as the double layered solidified ingot by means of pinch rolls 14. The ingot is lowered while the mold 9 is kept oscillated. The clad material having good quality without scum sticking and having no voids during shrinkage on solidification and oxide layer, etc. at all is obtd. by the above-mentioned method under the continuous supply of the solid core material.
