PURPOSE:To separate and to recover nitrobenzaldehyde isomers useful as a raw material for agricultural chemicals, drugs, perfume, etc. easily in high purity, by adsorbing a mixture comprising nitrobenzaldehyde isomers by the use of Y type zeolite as an adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:A mixture comprising nitrobenzaldehyde isomers is brought into contact with Y type zeolite which is crystalline aluminosilicate belonging to faujasite group and an oxide shown by the formula (M is metallic cation such as preferably K, Cu, Ag, etc., and can be subjected to ion exchange partially or totally; n is valence of M; Y is different depending upon degree of hydration) in a molar ratio as a catalyst at room temperature -350 deg.C at atmospheric pressure -40kg/cm<2>G, adsorbed, and separated, to recover the aimed compounds in high purity. A nitro-substituted aromatic compound, aldehyde- substituted aromatic compound, etc. are preferably used as a desorbing agent. Before the zeolite is used as an adsorbent, removal of water of crystallization is previously required.
