PURPOSE:To shorten the time required to descale a hot rolled steel sheet by mechanically stripping the upper layer of a scale hard to remove by pickling and by removing the under layer by pickling. CONSTITUTION:The upper layer of the scale produced on each side of a hot rolled steel sheet is hard to remove by pickling. The upper layer, that is scale having Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 phase is mechanically stripped by shot blasting, brushing, swing cutting or other method. The under layer of the scale is then removed by pickling.
