An auxiliary paving block has a square stem 7 and an integral head 8 shaped as an octagon of long and short sides but omitting that minor portion defined by continuing the line of the side of the stem across the octagon, thereby possessing long face 9. It is used for edging or termination of an area paved with complete octagonal/square blocks. If placed long-side down it defines a gentle height-change feature for gulleys or "sleeping policeman".
