PURPOSE:To obtain a device with improved recoding density by providing a means which detects external magnetism applied to a magnetic head to part of a head housing at distance from the tip part of a magnetic pole or part of a slider on which the magnetic head is mounted. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head 38 consisting of a slider 31, a main magnetic pole, etc., is installed on the recording medium on a magnetic disk while a specific current is applied to a magneto-resistance effect element 35. Then, the element 35 varies in magnetic resistance with an external magnetic field and a current based upon a voltage induced corresponding to said variation is flowed through winding 37 provided around the main magnetic pole 32 of an IC circuit incorporated together with the element 35 so that the external magnetic field is canceled, thereby removing the influence of the external magnetic field. This magnetic head is used for a magnetic disk device and then the influence of an external magnetic field produced by the spindle and voice coil motor of the magnetic disk device is eliminated, so that a high-reliable magnetic disk device is obtained. |
