PURPOSE:To obtain a resin compsn. which is flame-retardant and has good weather resistance, by blending a halogenated compd., antimony trioxide and a specified compd. with a polystyrene resin. CONSTITUTION:A resin compsn. is obtd. by blending 5-32pts.wt. halogenated compd. (A) of formula I [wherein R<1> is a group of formula II (wherein l is 1-4); X is Br; a, b are each 2-5], 0-10pts.wt. chlorinated polyethylene (B) having a degree of chlorination of 25-40wt%, 2-10pts.wt. antimony trioxide (C) and 0.1-3pts.wt. at least one member (D) selected from among compds. of formula III [wherein R<2> is a group of formula IV (wherein m is 1-18); X is H, SO3H], compds. of formula V [wherein R<3> is a group of formula VI (wherein n is 1-4); R<4> is a group of formula VII (wherein p is 0-4)], compds. of formula VIII [wherein R<5> is a group of formula IX (wherein q is 1-8)] and compds. of formula X [wherein R<6> is a group of formula XI (wherein r is 1-3); R<7> is H, CH3; S is 2-18] with 100pts.wt. polyethylene resin. If desired, a conventional stabilizer such as phenol, phosphite, thioether or tin compd., lubricant, filler, dye, pigment, etc. may be added to the compsn.
