PURPOSE:To restrain excessive rotation of engine and maintain better drivability by providing a detection switch detecting backward running conduction and controlling engine rotating number to less than a fixed number at the time of backward running condition detection. CONSTITUTION:In an engine control device in which engine power is transmitted to axles of a pair of right and left rear wheels through a drive shaft 27 extending in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle body and the power transmission path is designed to be changed over to forward running and backward running, a detecting switch 53 closed by contacting to an outer peripheral face of a boss unit 38 of a shift fork to be pressed in when the shift for, is slid to the backward direction and detecting backward running is provided. When the switch 53 is closed, if the engine rotating number is over an allowable rotating number in an arithmetic circuit 59, a thyrister 58 is turned ON to prevent electrification to an ignition coil 63, and a spark plug 64 is made into non-fire condition. |
