PURPOSE:To handle a work stock after sorting based upon measured values widely for a size distribution of works by automating handling, and measurement and data control before and after the size measurement of the works. CONSTITUTION:Works before sorting which are supplied while arrayed in a case 5 are mounted on an index table 11 by using a conveying and positioning device 3 for the case containing the works before sorting and a pick and press device 8 for the work before sorting and a size measurement is taken by a size position measuring instrument 13 at the station of the index table 11; and the measured works are sorted and put in a case, rank by rank, corresponding to the measured values by using a conveying and positioning device 16 for the work containing case and a pick and press device 20 for works after sorting, and cases are stocked in a multistage stocker and conveyed to a next process. Consequently, the operation efficiency is improved greatly and works sorted by ranks are sent to the trailing process, so the arrangement in the trailing process is facilitated.
