PURPOSE:To improve torque by leading angle from a basic ignition timing when knocking is not generated by detecting characteristic change of knocking generation level to a lead angle amount of ignition timing and calculating the maximum limit value of ignition lead angle amount according to the change. CONSTITUTION:An ignition timing control device is provided with knocking level discriminating means E discriminating presence of knocking generation based on a detecting signal of a knock sensor D which detects vibration of an engine or vibration of combustion pressure. When knocking is generated, ignition timing is corrected by lag angle by a lag angle control means F and when knocking is not generated, ignition timing is corrected by lead angle by a lead angle control means G, and generating timing of ignition signal by an ignition signal generating means H is controlled by output of control means F, G. In this case, a characteristic change detecting means J detecting characteristic change of knocking generating level to lead angle amount of ignition timing is provided and the maximum limit value of ignition lead angle amount is calculated by an arithmetic means K according to the output of the means J. |
